Your Hosts

TMFinishPhotoAfter years of sitting around their favorite coffee shop, Taylor Hytinen and Jason Gunn decided it was time to put their voice out into the universe. They’re video game buddies, Tough Mudders, and connoisseurs of the ridiculous.

Gunner

Jason Gunn, aka Gunner, moved to Arizona from the cold nether regions of New York in 2006. After spending his formative years working as a hydro-ceramic technician (dishwasher) for a small-time bistro in the port city of Oswego, Gunner found himself at the Culinary Institute of America and later working for one of the largest Foodservice distribution companies in the country.

Since then, he married his high-school sweetheart and continues to balance his corporate life with creative outlets like short fiction writing, playing video games, and bull-shitting with his friends. He has a love for good Scotch, cheap cigars, and great conversations. While his depth of knowledge pales compared to that of Taylor, Gunner can talk about everything from silly pictures on Reddit to the complexities of global economics and international terrorism.

So what qualifies this chef-turned-corporate monkey to host a podcast that claims to be the authority on the absurd and interesting? Absolutely nothing. He does however have the know-how to build a website and get a podcast into the universe. Coupled with a knack for injecting a well-timed joke into the conversation, he’s leveraging his co-host’s mania for trolling the internet for all things politically, economically, and theoretically interesting to put on a show that promises to enlighten and entertain.

T ProfileTaylor Hytinen, aka Reno, born in the Northwest, grew up in Colorado and is currently rolling through adulthood in Arizona. So far, so good. Couple high points, tossed out of private school in ninth grade. General issues related to authority, and authority’s place in the world. Had a quick jaunt on an Alaskan fishing boat, then crept through the dark-side for a short spell. Sorted things out and ended up working for an analytical chemist and physicist studying coffee. Our roasted coffee was scanned with a diffuse reflectance near-infrared spectrophotometer to insure quality. Yes, we out math’d the coffee community and that shop is an just about to institution levels in Arizona. (according to me) Skipped college, so after my go at being married went sideways I revisited the notion of a higher education.  Good times!  Studied Global Security and Analytical Intelligence, playing war games counts as actual school credit.  Landed in IT, settled in to paying off loans and now I’m playing world analyst on a weekly podcast with Gunner.
